Place value.. what does it look like
Today in mathematics a group were looking at how to multiply two digit numbers using place value.
First we used materials to see what that equation looked like and what the expected outcome would be. We then broke out materials into tens and ones to look at how we could multiply these in two steps.

Group Problem Solving - Maths
Maths on a Friday is mixed group problem solving. This is where the students work with a variety of others to answer a maths problem.
The skills again relate back to group work and they are applying their maths skills in a different way.
Last week they were working on sharing their ideas and strategies to answer the problem.

Group work
Today during writing we were learning to work effectively as part of a group.
We needed a recorder, a manager, an organiser and a time keeper.
Jayden, " We were working together to create a brain storm for an explanation."
